The Comeback of the
Progressive Country Funk band!

Hot News: The Comeback:
"Mad Cow's Ball" Tour: Schedule TBA in 2004

Inspired by the outbreak of mad cow disease, the on-again off-again music pioneers Cow Pie have gotten together for another tour: "The Mad Cow's Ball" tour. The tour comes with no small amount of surprise, both good and bad. Good for their diehard fans, known as Mushroomheads. Bad, from the FDC, cattlemen, cowboys and what one bandmember, Pete Clinhardoo, called "busy-body, good-for-nothing neighbors."

Public outrage at the choice of the tour's name was only slowed by Clinhardoo, who stated in a release to Nashville area media: "Yes, we were inspired by the outbreak of mad cow disease, but not in a bad way. We simply thought it made a great name for our tour, with the word cow being in our name and the name of the illness."

He added, "We feel terrible about any crazy cows out there. Mental illness is never a good thing, and I guess it really bothers those cow-worshipping Muslims or Buddhists or whoever."

Aside from possible repercussions of controversy created by the tour's name, it won't be of the intensity that fans recall from 1995's "Watch Your Step" tour, when the group trekked the globe. It is nonetheless the biggest news from the self-proclaimed "progressive country funk" group in years.

The tour will be a return after several failed attempts at a tour, the ill-fated "Flaming Paper Bag" tour [read story on the failed tour] of 1999. "Flaming Paper Bag" was halted reportedly because group co-leader and drummer, Anthony Zeccorifilius, and his wife were having babies at an alarming rate, preventing Zeccorifilius from leaving town. The kids finally stopped arriving in 2002.

With a threat from his wife of a "homemade fix" after 28 hours in labor for child number 12, Anthony Zeccorifilius decided to have an operation that would prevent further children from occurring.

The group has reportedly made arrangements with five state fairs already, to play one show at each. The first show will be at the West Virginia State Fair, in Lewisburg, WV.

More information will be available from their headquarters outside Nashville as the state fair season heats up. For more information, call 1-800-shrooom, or visit www.cowpie.com.
